UPDATE : This is not what I had in idea :

In arecent postI used this photo of what I declared was my terminal design for the little nook out back . You know , “ Ta - da ! ” Well , is there ever a “ final”anythingin the garden ? Not any garden I ’ve ever had .

One comment to that early berth really stuck with me – “ Looks like a endearing space . All it needs is a small water feature film / bathing tub to bring in the razzing and a nice chair for you to model and admire . ” Well , I DO have chairman nearby – on the porch and a terrace – but unfeigned enough , no weewee feature .

Site of future bird bath

But that grow me wanting a shuttlecock bathroom to replace a plant I was dysphoric with . That ’s the three ‘ Cheyenne Sky ’ flushed switching grasses under the window , where they had get down flopping by June . sorry grass ! ( Okay , maybe forged site for it . )

But does n’t this bird bath look prettier , anyway ? Me , I ’m thrilled with it .

Here ’s how I terminate up get it . I asked a local wildlife mathematical group if birds would really use a bath in that locating – yes , indeed , they assured me .

Site with new bird bath

Then I asked where to buy one and was directed toBackyard Naturalistin Olney , MD . That ’s where a friend bought hers , a wildly painted like this one above . The baths are called Bird Bath Art Poles and they ’re cunning , and so simple .

You just drive this metal pole into the ground a few inches – you plow it like an augur – then slide a hand - paint PVC pole over it . They ’re stable – no tipping over – and it takes up less room in the mete since the radical is so svelte . Made byStudio M. in Fenton , Missouri .

Here ’s the natural selection I found at the store , and I choose theFarmhousestyle with its more low-key colors . The strong colouring would be great in myfront garden , though . Hmmm .

Let there be gurgling

Next , to produce the pile and sound of running pee AND attract raspberry , I supply this $ 20 floatingsolar - power fountain , see above through my porch screen . In full sun it shoots jolly eminent ; in the shade there ’s a myopic dribble . The fountain does n’t store solar energy ; so the height depends on the amount of luminosity at the moment .

Customer review and others predict that this wo n’t last always but at $ 20 , I ’m okay with that . Other , perhaps longer - lasting models run all the time and have electric battery that need replacing . This one is no hassle .

Birds, any time you’re ready

After a duo of week of dead no birds render pursuit in their stunning and lively young bathtub , I go it a few foot away onto the patio , close to my thistle feeder ( the only feeder I have ) .

More workweek go by , and nothing . Then a few days ago , sitting on my porch I spied this :

Now snort , anything else I can get you ?
