Celebrating the earliest bloomers
Carol in Hendersonville , North Carolina , is share some beauties from her wintertime garden with us today .
Thewinter gardenis dearly apprise . Honeybees emerge for the snowdrops(Galanthusspp . , Zones 3–8 ) and hellebores(Helleborushybrids , Zones 4–9).Cyclamencoum(Zones 5–9 ) is in peak . Cyclamen hederifolium(Zones 4–9 ) foliage makes an attractiveground coverfor this time of twelvemonth .
Flowers were collected from different hybridhelleboresand place in a Limoges china dish so that the “ faces ” are well-situated to see and enjoy .

The outer petals ofGalanthus‘Cowhouse Green ’ ( technically call tepals ) have a frail green chromaticity . This salmagundi was found in the 1980s by Mark Brown in Buckinghamshire , England .
The foliage ofCyclamenhederifoliumemerges in the gloaming and looks beautiful all wintertime before run low dormant again in the spring . Every plant has slightly different patterns on the leaves .
‘ Diggory ’ is a snowdrop multifariousness with beautiful showy petals that seem to almost puff up as the flowers open .

Leucojumvernum(Zones 4–8 ) look like to wood anemone and blooms most as early , but the blossom have six blanket petals tilt with green of the same size rather than the three orotund taboo petal and three small inner ones of the snowdrop .
‘ Pagoda ’ has bold green spot on the verboten petals , give it a distinctive and unusual look .
‘ Trumps ’ is another variety with fleeceable markings and is much love because it is very vigorous , rapidly clump up and multiply in the garden .

A flower ofwinter - bloomingCyclamencoumis mixed with some foliation ofCyclamenhederifolium , which blooms in the drop .
These “ xanthous ” snowdrops are still mostly white , but they have yellowish ovaries and markings on the petals . A hellebore rosiness behind them .
