Some big changes are taking place at Royal FloraHolland this yr . One of them is the conversion to primal auctioning of roses . Rose auctioneer Erik Wassenaar explains in the pillar below why this physical process is a huge problem in more elbow room than one .
The run - up to November 1 was very noticeable . We saw an overall upward trend in pricing , although it varied from one intersection to the next . For instance , alstroemerias , chrysanthemums , hydrangea , lilies , and gerberas ran well , but amaryllises and roses held up only somewhat . We also see the same delineation among plant .
There was a lowly upturn among roses , but it disappeared as cursorily as it appeared . The supply of rose was sizeable , which made it particularly difficult for the shorter length . Hopefully , the price grade will recoup soon , although November is always a difficult rose month .
Central auctioningThe requirement for more saturated auctioning has been around for several years . Central auctioning is the aggregation of auction clocks by product group across fix . By bringing together supply and demand , we encourage optimal pricing at the lowest possible toll . Since last year , the first key clock C06 ( C stands for key ) for alstroemeria , strelitzia , cymbidium , cut tailflower , phalaenopsis , and other gash orchidaceous plant has existed . The offer from Naaldwijk and Aalsmeer will be auctioneer here . From November 16 , this will be thrive to include the offerings from Rijnsburg .
Central auctioning of rosebush : a immense jobFrom FPC Roos , the demand for centrally auction roses has existed for several years . I myself thought : we ’ll do that . But it turned out to be an tremendous job with a lot of technological , commercial , and organisational dependencies .
From November 30 , the auctioning of roses will move from seven local clocks to four central filaria . In condition of auction technology , the provision and buying power of Aalsmeer , Naaldwijk , and Rijnsburg will be bundled , and we will , for instance , auction the rosaceous Red Naomi on just one clock rather of three local alfilaria . Logistically , these flow rate still stay on separate . So supplier can continue to supply where they always did .
aside from that , quite a lot will convert . For case , the auction clock numbers will change , uprise auction groups have been added at Naaldwijk and Rijnsburg fit in to the Aalsmeer schedule , and other auction groups than roses will move to other clocks . Because at Naaldwijk and Rijnsburg , there are more than just roses on one clock . The local auction schedules also change . If you remove roses from a clock , the other products from that clock do have to keep a position within the vendue schedules . In addition , case of roses switch within the rose auction groups . All in all , it is a huge undertaking that we , as ( rosaceous ) auctioneers , put all the necessary time and vigour into .
November 30 is the dayBut we are not there yet . As bring up , November 30 is the sidereal day the roses will be auctioneer off in a truly centralized mode . This will not take place in one big blast but in steps . The first step was on November 2 with the equalization of the rose auction groups .
Personally , I find it an exciting operation , but I like it ! Buyers and growers : be excess alert in the coming calendar month because a lot is changing . At Trade Fair Aalsmeer , auctioneers will also be present at the Royal FloraHolland bear to resolve any questions . You are most welcome !
In the next auctioneer chromatography column , we will keep you updated on the advance of centrally auctioned roses .
