Being of Lithuanian inheritance myself , and raised Catholic , we by and by found out as adult that our traditional Kuchas ( sp ? ) and evening dinner party on Christmas Eve , was actually a revised ritual that started as a pagan change of seasons , jubilation , and typically was lionise on the winter solstice . Well , since we we ’re busy celebrate our precious industrial plant alive all dark , on the solstice , it ’s probably ripe that we celebrate tonight , as common . ( Unless , of course of instruction the plants could speak at midnight .. hmmmm ) . Anyway , thanks to all of you who expressed concern over our latest heating issue . Tonight , all is well , and nothing was loss , except a few dollars on space heaters , lost sleep and perhaps a fuel party . This , we move on and essay to leave about it . Well , off to make more arrangements , since we have a full house this evening , roasts to start out , topiary to bring in from the greenhouse , garland to draps , floors to sweep , as you all do too .
