Colors of the season in Cherry’s garden
The preceding few Fridays we ’ve been tag along as Cherry Ong takes us to visit some wonderful public gardens , but today she ’s receive us into her home garden — specifically , the narrow , side garden she calls the Fern Fairway . It is a unmanageable space that she has transformed into a beautiful feature in her garden , and today we ’re getting to see how it looks robed in fall colors .
Japanese maples ( Acerpalmatum , Zones 5–9 ) are beautiful every day of the year , but they peak in the fall , their soft foliage colorize up improbably bright . Behind the maple , the flowers of hydrangea ( Hydrangeapaniculata , Zone 3–9 ) are comprehend with flower fading to pink at the end of the season . In front , abegonia(Begoniahybrid , one-year ) echoes the coloring of the maple leaves in its brightly flushed blooms .
Looking down the fairway , Cherry bring in the most of this space with lots of containers , both on the ground and hang from the fence . colourful begonias andcoleus(Plectranthusscutellarioides , Zones 10–11 or as an annual ) hang on the fencing , while below ferns and other perennials satisfy in with the foliation in every shade of green .

Though the begonias can blossom all summertime , the colour are peculiarly appropriate to autumn .
hallowed bamboo ( Nandinadomestica , Zones 6–9 ) does n’t lose its farewell in the winter , but they do bush beautiful shades of red as the cool time of year coming .
Hydrangea ( Hydrangeamacrophylla , Zones 5–9 ) bloom are beautiful at every stage , and I especially get laid the muted tones as these ones fade at the end of their life .

More begonia blooms in the colour of fall leaf
Bright begonias and coleus are set off by the surrounding foliage . Dangling from the pot with them is a tendril of lacy silvery leave that I think belong to a lotus vine ( Lotusmaculatus , Zones 10–12 or as an annual ) , and reaching up from below are the fronds of a Japanese paint fern ( Athyriumniponicumvar.pictum , Zones 3–8 ) .
This final contingent of a fern testify the hoary - colour spore on the undersurface of a frond .
