There is currently a bill in the NM legislature ( SB 18 - an amendment to the NM Food Act ) that is being brought up in this session to have mandatory intellectual nourishment labeling of all GE intellectual nourishment item in New Mexico . The proposed amendment was introduced by Senator Peter Wirth . Here are some examples of products that may contain GMO ’s in them but do n’t have labeling :
Anything that has SUGAR BEET wampum in it - because sugar beets can now be develop ‘ Round Up Ready’ . Sugar cane is safe(Look to see if your carbohydrate says ‘ sugar cane ’ on it ) . If not then it comes from wampum beet . Some operation food that may be affected are :
-sugar - If it does n’t say sugar cane , then it is from sugar beet .
-sugar beet sweetener - Sucrose from sugar beets can let in crude sugar , granulated sugar , browned clams , confectioner ’s sugar , and turbinado sugar . It is made up of glucose and fructose . Again see at the label if it says made from sugar cane it ’s ok .
-cereals , cake commixture , frozen prepared solid food , confect , breads , canned goodness that have sweeteners in them - spaghetti sauce , etc
Anything that has corn or a corn by - products in it
-corn syrup
-cereals , patty mixes , frozen prepared foods , candy , simoleons , transcribed goods that have clavus sweeteners in them - spaghetti sauce , etc+ corn meal
Any livestock that was fed with GE edible corn
-Meat - kick , poulet , pigthat you eat . There are no GE livestock being sold in US but they can be tip GE corn food grain which might be a concern .
Milk product - because the cow / goat could be feed in GE edible corn caryopsis - same as above or is prey .
Eggs - because that Gallus gallus could be give GE corn grain - same as above
Anything that has soy in it – this includes all edamame , soybean sauce , tofu , tamari , miso or anything with Glycine max
Anything with cottonseed oil color or canola oil - these crops are primarily now GE grow .
3 TIPS TO AVOID GMO FOODS IN THE GROCERY STORE
1.Buy organicfruits and vegetable and constituent serve food . All organic food are dependable . For now …
