Enjoying nature’s garden
Joseph here , your GPOD editor . Last week I was in the Cincinnati expanse for a work project , and I took some time to boost in a few area park . It was consummate time for springwildflowers , and I saw some real beauties !
This was my hands - down preferred industrial plant on the trip : Delphiniumtricorne(Zones 4–8 ) . The familiar garden delphiniums are hybrids of European species , but we have somenative speciesin the United States as well . This one is a smallspring bloomerthat then goes dormant in the summertime — and what a beauty it is ! Ranging from white to moody purple , each industrial plant was a trivial different , but all were beautiful . I ’m not sure why it is n’t coarse in gardens ; it would be a big fountain - blooming change from the normal daffodils and tulips .
A awful impression , but thebutterflieswere enjoying the delphinium flower too !

It ’s always fun to see the strange little dark-brown flowers of the pawpaw ( Asiminatriloba , Zones 5–9 ) . These piddling flowers will make grow into delicious fruit later in the summer .
How fitting for a slip to Ohio , the Buckeye State , to see a buckeye tree ( Aesculusglabra , Zones 4–9 ) in bloom ! The dark-green yellow flowers are easy to miss from a space but quite beautiful up tight .
Spiderwort ( Tradescantiavirginiana , Zones 4–9 ) is a plant I ’ve seen many time in gardens , but it was fun to see it arise in the wild . The regal peak are so velvety and perfect .

In one parking lot the spiderworts were lining the course , micturate a showing that I am itch to try in my home garden .
Blue - eyed Mary ( Collinsiaverna , annual ) has the sweet littleblue flowers . This wildflower is a trueannual — the seedling germinate in the fall , overwinter , and then bloom and go in the bound .
Woodlandphlox(Phloxdivaricata , Zones 3–8 ) was dotted all over the woods , and every flora was a minuscule unlike : Some more pinkish and others bluer , some with wide petals and others with minute ones . This clump was in particular beautiful to my center .

Trilliumflexipes(Zones 3–8 ) is a beautiful species of trillium with huge leave and clean white flowers .
I was also blown away by this specimen ofTrilliumlutea(Zones 3–8 ) , which may be the largest one I ’ve ever seen .
I always love getting out into nature . We can only aspire in our gardens to make something half as beautiful as what nature does all on its own .
