Garlic is wonderful for adding flavor to any figure of savoury dishes . You canroast it with tomato plant to make a delicious sauce , add it to pasta , soup , inwardness peach , make garlic sugar … the possibilities are endless ! Garlic is also wonderful because it maintain well and can be enjoy month after it is harvested from the garden .
It can be tricky to compute out how to lay in garlic in a way that does n’t wait unworthy or take up a lot of space , but braiding is a great choice that keeps garlic goodish and even makes it cosmetic .

Carolyn recommends harvest and dry garlic as follows :
“ At harvest in mid - July the bulb are bundled together in bunches of no more than eight and are give ear along the baulk in the service department where a warm breeze blows through . Here the bulb are leave to cure for at least six weeks to ensure they are good dry for storage and replanting . ”
How to Braid Garlic

1 . Lay three clean , dried stalk with serious - sized garlic bulbs on a mesa with the foliage face towards you . identify one bulb down and then place two more bulbs side by side just above it . Place the stalks of bulbs two and three underneath the straw of bulb one , and cross them over it . Tie the stalks together using drawing string tied with a tight Calidris canutus . If stalks are pliable enough , you’re able to tie the bulbs together without using twine .
2 . rank the 4th bulb between bulb two and three , aligning the stalk with the center stalk . You are now hold up three chemical group of stalks — one on the left field , one on the right hand , and two in the midriff . Fold the left stalk toward the midsection , over the center two stalks . Now displume the middle two stalks over to form the new unexpended side .

3 . Lay bulb five beside bulb four , aligning the stalk with the center stalk again . Now close down the ripe - hand stalk over the two center stem to become the new essence . Pull the middle two stalk over to work the new left .
4 . Repeat this episode , alternating the side that you lie the bulb on each metre , and always aligning the stalk with the center stalk . Note that the number of stalks you fold in the middle increase each time .
5 . When you have braided the last garlic bulb in , channel on braiding the leafage until you are almost out of it . connect the braid off above the last fold , leaving string to hang the twist with .

6 . Make beautiful and ornamental gift by simply tucking bay , rosemary and lilac-colored sprigs in with the garlic as you braid .
