In a vase on Monday. Two for the Price of One.

I have been absent from the blogging world for a while , partly because I have had a dodgy net connection which is now screen out , but principally because I have been run foresighted hours on unexampled undertaking which I will show you later .

But first to make up for the my absence I have two vases today . The first which I will call ‘ Frothy java ’ is made up of two of my favourite dahlias . One is the beautifully named cactus dahlia ‘ Messenger from the Moon ’ or Tsuki Yori No Shisha ’ . The other is the dinner party crustal plate ‘ Café au Lait ’ which is such a gorgeous coloration . Frosts are forecast for this calendar week so this is probably the destruction of the Dahlia pinnata for this year . I have also used the cowslip yellowClematis rhederianawhich is sometimes bonk as ‘ Virgin ’s Bower ’ . It is a delightful clematis with clusters of nodding , scented bell - like flowers . It blooms for weeks on end . Its only vice is the fact that in one season it grows huge and it is scale the pink wine and wisteria archway in my secret garden . So today I have been ruthlessly cutting it back .

outdoors in the garden autumn is showing its russet chromaticity everywhere and it is beautiful . But for my second vase I am hanging on to the novel color of summer for one more week .

I have used four of my salvias . On the right hand is the ably namedSalvia leucantha‘Purple Velvet ’ and the flower do look as if they are made of velvet . By the closing of the summer this make a huge bush , but it is not hardy so I take plenty of cutting .

On the leftfield are the spikes of beautifulSalvia leucantha‘Phyllis Fancy ’ which also makes a huge bush . This is exceptional as it was a nowadays from our lovelyCathyfrom tramp in the Garden who gets us all finding flowers to put in a vase on Monday . give thanks you Cathy , I have been delight gorgeous Phyllis .

The other salvia I used is not quite the right colouring because it is a rather acute blue rather than violet like the others . But it is quite unusual and I thought you might wish to see it . It is calledSalvia corrugatawhich is appropriate as it has corrugate leaves . It amount from South America so it is not brave .

The deep purple salvia in the pic above is name ‘ Nachtvlinder ’ which is the German for moth . It does n’t look anything like a moth , but never mind it is a pretty name . This salvia seems relatively audacious in my garden and I now have large bushes of it .

The jolly white chrysanthemum in the next photo is call ‘ Edelweiss ’ It is quite rarified . I am contract very corking on chrysanthemum as they carry the garden into November so prettily . I now have a good ingathering of different colours thanks to Suffolk Plant Heritage . But more of these another Clarence Shepard Day Jr. .

The Japanese anemone is anticipate ‘ Andrea Atkinson ’ . It is very similar to the ubiquitous ‘ Honorine Jobert ’ but I think it is honest . It blooms from late summer well into fall .

The bloodless Michaelmas daisy orsymphyotrichumas we now have to call it isSymphyotrichum ericioides‘Snow Flurry ’ .

The adorable potato vine is the two - tone white and violetSolanum laxum‘Creche du Pape ’ , or this is what everyone seems to call it now . Its proper name is ‘ Creche ar Pape ’ which sound ungrammatical but it is call after a place in Brittany .

I have miss writing about my special October blooms and now we are into November . I will try and get up with fruits , flowers and gorgeous farewell very shortly . And it is high time I invited you into the glasshouse again where the nerines have been delighting me for several week now and still reckon adept . And after workweek of knockout work I now have much more garden to savor and to share with you as yet again I have pushed back on pliant boundary and that ’s it now , if I go any further I shall be in my neighbours ’ gardens . Actually , that is a view , the people on the left probably would n’t mark . But then I must n’t be covetous . I have masses more space now . I will show you before long .

And of course I am look forrader to catch up with what everyone else has been doing in their garden whilst I was busybodied . Until then , thank youCathyfor your lovely memeIn a Vase on Monday . Next workweek it will be her seventh day of remembrance , so do n’t miss it .

Blue and white always for me life my spirits . give thanks you for share your previous summer flowers with me .

I rule it impossible to select a favorite between these two arrangements , Chloris . I ’ve coveted Dahlia ‘ Tsuki Yori No Shisha ’ for some clip now but I ’ve come up empty on sources for the tubers here . Your Salvia leucantha looks terrifically dense , which is something I ’m ineffective to say for mine , although I suspect mine but wants more water here than it ’s been get . I was even more envious of the white aster , which is also something I have n’t been able to find here . Well done , on all count . I look forwards to your updates now that you ’ve back online .

Beaautiful make-up and arrangement . I too have several sage in my Gatley garden but I had not thought of realise flower system with them . if they are not hardy what should I do with them ?
