“Reusing” annuals by overwintering them

Lilian Ho ’s garden is a great example of “ reusing ” yearbook by overwintering them each class instead of buy Modern ones . It is a great way to save money … or ( if you are like me ) to have more money to spend on other industrial plant .

She writes ,   “ My container plant life are all non - stalwart plants , mainly begonias , fuchsias , pelargoniums and few Eucomis ( pineapple plant lily ) that all need winter protections . Most of the begonia are grow from seeds and some from tuber . I turn off the begonia , fuchsia and Eucomis down in November and store them in the garage while I take cutting from the pelargoniums in the declivity and grow them indoors over the winter . ”

I ’ll also mention that most of these beautiful plants really need cool summer temperature to appear their best . So all of you northerns suffering through a recondite freeze , this is your payoff ! This summertime , dilute up on tuberous begonia and fuchsias and make your southern neighbour covetous !
