It’sapple season ! There are so many delicious ways to preserve orchard apple tree but one of our favorite ways is to make dried orchard apple tree slices . They smell heavenly while desiccate and make a wonderful flying snack on the go .
I do n’t bother pretreating my orchard apple tree for discolouration , it does n’t trouble oneself me one bit and has no impact on the spirit . We be given to dry out whatever variety we have usable to us , and we ’ve enjoyed all we ’ve ever made .
My best-loved method for dry out yield is to dry out it in my food dehydrator , but you could also dry yield in your home oven . ironic time varies depending on the humidity where you are place and the sizing and thickness of your slices , but here is a cosmopolitan scout to score dehydrated apple slices .

Yield : as much as you ’d like
Supplies
Recipe : When it comes to saving , do n’t forget the dehydrator !
Directions
lave apple and slice them into 1/4 - inch slice ( or thinner if you need a crunchier apple slice ) . I do not bother coring the apple . When sliced correctly through the inwardness as pictured , they are perfectly lovesome to wipe out — plus , they are pretty dried this way .
Do remove the seeds .
Lay fruit on dehydrator tray in a single bed ( or a lambskin paper - trace baking sheet if using oven ) . Leave space between each slice so that they are not touching . I always sparge some ground cinnamon over the apple slice before dehydrating , but this footstep is optional .

Dry at 135 degrees F if using a food dehydrator and at 175 to 200 degrees F ( depending on how grim your oven will go ) if using an oven . A food dehydrator will take six to 10 hours to dry out , maybe longer if it ’s humid in your home . An oven will take two to four hours .
It is recommend to check on the slice sporadically and to even turn them now and again though the drying process to avail them along . We prefer our dried apples to be chewy but not moist .
Cook longer if you require more of a “ chip ” style orchard apple tree .
Allow the apple to cool off completely before storing . memory board in an airtight , juiceless property . I keep mine in a clinch jar in the pantry . savor within six calendar month .
Side Notes
Do n’t dehydrate any bruised yield .
thin slice will relent a crunchier apple slice , more like a “ chip ” .
If the apple slices are not fully dehydrated once cooled , return them to the dehydrator to complete the process .
If you prefer not to risk oxidation , you could sweep the Malus pumila slices with lemon yellow juice before dry out .
