Growing chaya in Florida is a no-brainer!
Greens are n’t all that interesting to me . That does n’t think I thin them out of my liveliness … but they ’re not as exciting asbig wads of rootsor awesome homemade sand .
Some greens are good than others , of course .
For instance , I firmly abide by the numerical postulate thatmustard greens > collards .

Moringaleaves are in effect in soup . Bidens albagreens are fine in stir - tike … andturnipgreens are about as interesting to me as the 1974 Bowling Championships .
Yet there is a green I find quite enjoyable . So in force , in fact , that I will sometimes cook up a throne and use up them as a meal . That leafy vegetable , as you ’ve hopefully guessed from my title , is chaya . I think the relish is similar to a soft and sweet Brassica oleracea italica . It has a nice chewiness to the cooked folio I also find enjoyable.Amazon.com doohickey
Chaya is in the same raging , wonderful , beautiful and often toxic family ascassava . It also contains high level of cyanide , so you need to take care not to feed it raw , even if you want to . Just do n’t . finish . Put it down . NO !

Boil pass on for 20 minutes , then enjoy them . They ’re apparently laughably good for you and full of vitamins , which makes sense to me since they taste substantial and scrumptious .
grow chaya in Florida is a pushover if you may find cutting . cut root in a month or so when it ’s warm . Just perplex them in moist ground and wait . They ’re not as flying as manioca but they ’ll normally take .
I’veseen chaya wilddown in South Florida , but in the northerly one-half of the state you ’re not potential to come across it . Where I live it freeze to the ground every wintertime but will usually return from the roots and rapidly shoot for the sky . Once you get a couple plants , it ’s easy to make more .

bug do n’t seem to bother my chaya plants ( CYANIDE ! ) and they grow decently even in wretched soil . I ’ve planted them in full Sunday and in almost full shade and they ’ve lived in both places , though the ones grown in nuance are thin and leggy .
You canbuy chaya cuttings here .
Grab some chaya , tuck a few into your yard … and you ’ll have great repeated greens for age to come . This plant ’s a victor .
