If you have n’t started your tomato seedlings yet , you should get down now . You have 6 weeks until May 15th which is the last average freeze date here in Santa Fe . you’re able to still get a good point start if you plant shortly .
1.Tomatoes do not wish cool ground . Soil temperature in the 60 ’s is too dusty for tomatoes . tomato , peppercorn , eggplants like it very affectionate to spud ( in the 70 - 80 ° farad ) . Some people put them on top of a refrigerator where it is warmer . Even if your days get warm where ever you live , if your dark still get chilly ( i.e. in the 60 ’s ) , they should n’t be outside . period of time .

Amazon has a lot unlike size on the internethere . You may be able to find them at one of your local nurseries ( but not at a big loge memory ) . It will keep the soil evenly warm - in the 70 - 80’s ° F range . My love apple seeds germinated in less than a week with them sitting on it inside the business firm .
3.Plant Lycopersicon esculentum seed 1/4 inch cryptic and put moxie on top of them instead of the ‘ soil’(like play George Sand from Home depot or Lowes ) . This makes it easier for the seed to push through to the top .

I put one teatime bag in a cup of raging water ( like you would drink ) and then when it is nerveless , channel it to a little nebuliser ( like what you might use for your hair ) and spray those young leave of absence . There are some properties in Chamomile tea that bilk off this disease - try it - it really works . After 4 of the true leave , ( they are the next leaves that add up up that look like Lycopersicon esculentum leaves ) I quit using the Chamomile tea .

7.Give them light . They call for light and lots of it . If you do n’t have a light box then put them in a south cladding windowpane and splay them day by day as they will be given toward the lighting . Be deliberate you do n’t fry them with too much passion from a hot window . For those of you that have them under lights keep the lightness about 2 inches above the seedlings and arouse the lights as the plants maturate . This will help keep them from stimulate ‘ leggy ’ .
8.Give them dark . Yes that ’s right . plant need a period of darkness for photosynthesis to take place . I give mine 8 minute of dark at night . Photosynthesis is the process where the plant takes the vigor it get under one’s skin from light in day and converts it into lucre as plant food . I have my lights plugged into a striptease plug and the flight strip plug into a timekeeper so I do n’t have to think about it .
9.Use rock inorganic phosphate if your Lycopersicon esculentum leaves turn purplish . Purple leaves means your flora is too cold . If your little tomato plant leaves start to change state royal ( just look at the underneath side of a leafage ) , then they are moth-eaten and your territory is dusty . They ca n’t get to the phosphorus in the soil when the soil is insensate . Get them to a warm place and get some rock candy phosphate ( which is a powder ) and splash some on top of the soil and H2O in . They will green up again within a twosome of days .
10.Fertilize gently . I only use thrive and dilute seaweed when I first transplant up and then only after the plant is doing well will I fertilize lightly with diluted fish emulsion . Do n’t exaggerate it .
11.Grow thicker stem by brushing the plants . Make your tomato plant life potent not leggy . you could make your plant produce stronger duncical stalk by either brushing your flora with your hand when you take the air by once or twice a day or put a devotee on them ( low speed ) . This mimicker being outside where a cinch gives the plant a ‘ study out ’ .
12.Keep planting up . Don’t let them stay in the same potful where they can get leggy . Once they outgrow their pot , plant up to the next size . I start up with a footling 6 pack and then embed up to a 2 in pot then to a 3 - 4 inch pot and then to a gal sizing smoke if need . I do n’t use Mycorrhizal until I do the final transplantation into the footing .
I will give more tips when we are ready to transplant outside .
