Tulip Mania
Last week Jason atGardeninacityand Christina atMyhesperidesgardenshowed us some of their favourite tulip and I thought how useful it is to see what other people commend . I am sure we will all be ordering Christina ’s ‘ Burnt Sugar ’ this year . So here are some of the single I am relish this year .
Several people have admired the tulip in my header . The picture was taken at the rattling garden of Ulting Wick near Maldon in Essex last year . You want a very cryptical pocket to amount up with the sort of displays they have here .
But you may borrow some of their planting ideas . I love the combination of plants in the next picture . I recall next year , I will grow these tulips which I think are ‘ Snowstorm ’ , Queen of the Night ’ and perhaps ‘ Magic Lavender ’ . with aquilegias , Grass and camassias , although I have n’t got the nice green humps of Box as a background .

Tulipa viridiflora ‘Springwood Green’ , Tulips ‘Ballerina’ and the yellow ‘West Point’
I care tulips growing amongst other plant and I copy my idea of growing them withTellima grandiflorafrom Ulting Wick . I already had swathes of this stuff and nonsense just waiting to be enliven up with some lilifora and viridiflora tulip . So on a smaller scale I copied the huge impulsion I saw at Ulting Wick .
Tulipa viridiflora ‘ Springwood Green ’ , Tulips ‘ Ballerina ’ and the yellow ‘ West Point ’
I also love tulips withLunaria annua‘Alba variegata ’ . I establish you the combination withTulipa viridiflora‘Springwood Green ’ recently but it also look unspoiled with ‘ Apricot Beauty’I think tulip face wondrous with forgetmenots and I get laid the effect of pinkish tulips with the sky blueMysotis .

Tulipa viridiflora ‘Springwood Green’ , Tulips ‘Ballerina’ and the yellow ‘West Point’
I have to admit I have never actually planted any forgetmenots and these combinations are gossamer serendipity .
I am very fond of fringe tulip and each year I get a few more .
Tulip ‘ Mariette ’

Tulip ‘ Queen of the Night ’
‘ queen mole rat of the Night ’ is my preferred and I grow it everywhere . My other pet is ‘ Prinses Irene ’ . That is not a typo by the way , the tulip is mention after Prinses Irene of Holland . I eff how this tulip goes so well with bronze or brown foliage
I am also very fond of a to the full double sport of Prinses Irene called ‘ Orange Princess ’ I like to grow this one in muckle .

Another pretty tulip for pot which is new to me this year is ‘ Honky Tonk ’ .
Tulip ‘ Honky Tonk ’

This twelvemonth for my window pane of tulip envy I work to the marvellous Chenies Manor in Hertfordshire . This magnificent manor house was build in c.1480 . The garden is a beautiful mise en scene for a superb tulip collection . My resources do n’t let such a howling tulip showing as they have here , but as with Ulting Wick , I came away with some musical theme to copy . I love the pure white forgetmenots with these blank tulip and I shall be seem out for some cum . What really took my breathing place away at Chenies were the huge plenty crammed full of tulips in rich sundown nicety in the minuscule court . I am decidedly going to copy this idea next yr in the largest pot I can find . If you would care to copy this too , the tulip are ‘ Christmas Orange ’ , Annie Schilder ’ , Apricot Beauty ’ , Queen of the Night ’ , Monte Flame ’ and ‘ Jimmy’ . Which tulips have you been relish this class ?

Gorgeous , gorgeous ! I conceive I ’m going to have to try the tulip in pots next fall , for a great exhibit next spring . rabbit eat my tulip in the terra firma , but maybe the pots would help . Your combinations with other flowers and plant life are arresting !
Thanks for share the beautiful displays and combination you ’ve bump . I rarely call up of tulips as part of a combo , they tend to stand alone in my garden . But I like them much better the way you ’ve shown them . I ’ll have to intend of ways to combine them next twelvemonth . I do like the musical theme of doing a mass container display too , though .
Beautiful tulip and compounding idea ! My favorites are usually the live colors as they bring such a bright spatter of color to the fairly pastel pallet of spring . That being order , ‘ pinkish Impression ’ was a favorite this year along with ‘ Prinses Irene ’ and ‘ American Dream ’ which starts light yellow and reddish and ages to an amazing bright orange . The tulip I look most forrad to seeing each year is a exclusive yellow lily bod that came with the garden 17 years ago . It does n’t increase or diminish but dependably order forth it ’s single flush .

Tulips make me as envious as peony . I really hope I can visit the UK in the spring someday .
such a lot of inspiration here . It is interesting how each of us are drawn to unlike colours – I incline to go for the pastel shades , but had never really deal white , which are just beautiful in the garden with background of other colours . I am growing Camassia for the first time this class and am loving it !
If I was issued a school news report for my tulips Chloris it would constantly say “ Could do well ” so it ’s great to nibble up ideas and inspiration from multitude who get them well . I ’ve had a lean class when it comes to tulips after disappointment last yr meant that I hit them off my medulla oblongata shopping come autumn ! I must try again maybe with something along the lines of that sunshine combining you saw at Chenies . Not wishing to voice like a pernickity teacher should the caption interpret ‘ Tulipa viridiflora ‘ Spring Green ’ under you third picture . It ’s one of the few that I have contend to succeed with 🙂
