We have a new babe due tomorrow . We do n’t know if we ’ll get a son or a girl , but either would be wonderful . Rachel likes surprises , so when we got our ultrasound we enjoin the tech not to give away the secret .
But now we ’re in the last week . The foresighted wait .
So we stay close to home , we take the air , we babble out , we essay to figure out the last bits and pieces we involve as we await our new arrival … and we walk some more .

Yesterday afternoon we walked out to the fiddling waterlogged meadow along the edge of our property . I brought my camera and two lenses : a vintage Soviet crystalline lens call the “ Helios 44 - 2 , ” and an old 135 mm Pentax Bayonet lens .
Here is one of the path on our property :
My mom has joined us for the week to welcome babe # 10 into the universe .

Along the path we saw some leftovers of summertime and fall as the seasons fade from the green abundance of summer into the grey of wintertime . This orb weaver finch is still hanging on :
And this little tickweed :
And this lonely little hurler plant :

The meadow itself is now brown .
There is a moony facial expression to the Helios electron lens that I truly love . It ’s not the penetrating lens , but it for sure has case .
The flush are mostly going to seed .

Rachel is get well-worn of expect for this child !
But Mom is a cheerful companion and a not bad encourager .
As we walk , we were stalked by a panther .

And an ocelot :
Can you spot the ocelot ?
Then – terrifyingly – the two predators team up :

That small stripy kitty was underprice on our road a calendar week or so ago and has been borrow by the child , just like the black kitty .
“ Dad – can we PLEASE keep her ? ? ? We ’ll pay for the food ! ”
Oh well . I suppose not everything has to be brutally useful around here .

The hayfield is half - swamp and there are piddling crawdad burrow all over it .
As well as wad of toad :
My girl was stalking wildlife :

And my sometime daughter was have photograph with my backup camera :
The atmospheric condition today is beautiful and gay . It would be a undecomposed day to have a babe .
We ’ll just have to keep walking and see what happens .
