Random Thought # 1 – Here ’s a horticulture secret for you . If you ’ve never grown crop in the fall , you ’re seriously missing out . In terms of garden maintenance , the fall garden is the easiest vegetable garden you ’ll ever grow . You ’ll deal with less weeds , pest , and scantily have to piss . The plants never look wilt and they make the surrounding landscape painting that ’s going to sleep for the wintertime derive alert with people of color and texture . And you barely have to be given it – until you want to harvest .

I do n’t care where you live . Even if you have to develop your cool - conditions garden in a hoop - theatre , cold inning , or what - have - you . I ’ve regain that it ’s extremely rewarding for not even half the study of a summer garden .
I know , easy for me to day dwell in Northern California , but hear me out . I have it on some pretty whole nurseryman office country - astray that they ’ve experienced the same . Except for may be Alaska … I have n’t heard form anyone in Alsaka . If you live on in that region , please chime in and let us know if you ’ve had success with fall garden .
Random Thought # 2 – Vegetables that are happy to live on in the drop and winter garden areradishes , beets , carrots , turnips , parsnip , collard greens , Swiss chard , kale , and Swedish turnip . But there are some cool - loving veg whose flavor is actually enhanced by a little freeze such as Brussels sprout , cauliflower , Brassica oleracea italica , Brassica oleracea gongylodes andcabbage . Some of the ancestor crops like carrots and radishes have a odoriferous flesh , pronounce crispness when Jack Frost blows by .

Random Thought # 3 - If you remember you may be planting your fall garden too late – never fear . Although on paper this may sound true , but many of these date have-to doe with to starting plant fromseed . At this late date , you wo n’t be commence from seed . Head down to your local nursery and see whattransplants(starts ) they have already sound for you and get them into the ground or container . Random Thought # 4 – By the elbow room , fall is a terrific time to mature fast - to - bolt out - in - the - heat leafy greens such as salad lucre . These leafy Green are more tender than say , broccoli , and you ’ll want to engraft them in a inhuman frame or hoop - theatre for trusted .
Random Thought#5 – If you have been assure yourself some new fruit trees such ascolumnar apples , lemon tree tree , peach , etc;nowis the time to search which mixture do best in your growing zone . The better time to buy ( or order ) fruit trees is in the winter when they ’re sell as naked - stem plants . First of all , when saltation arrives they have time they acclimating to your area , and they arecheapwhen purchased as bare - radical plant . Just sayin ’ .
